건축계획연구방법론 Methodologies in Architectural Planning

수업 목표 Class Policy

This seminar is for the first year graduate students of architecture as well as the other graduate students who are about to start their thesis or dissertation. The students will learn the methodologies for the architectural studies and research. The major topics include: (1) introductory philosophy of science, (2) relationship between architectural design and research; and (3) empirical research methodologies in detail.
All the students are required to read the reading assignments before the seminar. They take turns each week to summarize the reading assignment and present it to the class. Also, in some of the classes, the students are requested to read sample published research papers prior to the classes and to discuss their strength and weakness under the professor's supervision (like the classes in the law schools).
The term project is to write a research proposal. At the end of the semester, each student will present his or her proposal to the class.
